The environmental centre of the Larnaca district
The Environmental Information Centre of Larnaca Mountainous Area was founded by the Larnaca-Famagusta Development Agency in 2012. The whole project was funded through Measure 2.6 "Preservation and Improvement of the Social and Ecological Role of Forests" Scheme 2.6.1: "Non-Productive Investments", Project: Creation of a Visitors' Centre, within the framework of the Rural Development Programme 2007 – 2013 of the Agricultural Payments Organisation (KOAP).
The main objective of the Centre is to educate and inform visitors about the important elements that constitute mountainous Larnaca, both for its natural environment and for its important cultural elements. The Centre initially covers 18 communities located in the main forested area of the district.
